Ted and Robin get serious in their romantic relationship. On the other hand, Marshall grieves for the departure of Lily. Trying to move on, he hesitantly dates other girls. Lily comes back to New York after realizing she was not meant to be an artist, and so she gets back together with Marshall.

When Barney lost his “slap bet” with Marshall, Marshall is allowed to slap him five times whenever he wants. So far, in this season, Marshall slaps Barney twice. As the story progresses, Barney discovers that he has a homosexual black brother . Moreover, Barney goes to California and participates in the game show “The Price is Right,” all for the reason that he thinks Bob Barker is his real father. However Bob believes otherwise. Later on, they discover that Robin used to be a Canadian teen pop star back in the early 90’s.
