Lily Aldrin (Alyson Hannigan)
Lily grew up in Brooklyn, New York and is a kindergarten teacher and an amateur painter and paints a nude portrait of Marshall at one point. She is also shown to be the one who virtually can’t keep any secret. She and Marshall started dating while they were still in college and been together for 9 years and have been engaged for almost a year when she broke up with him and moved to San Francisco to study art, but got back together and got married when she came back.

Lily has a very big debt problem because of her impulsive buying practices that Marshall didn’t know until the time they started to apply for a mortgage. She and Marshall have always wanted to have kids but were afraid to try for a while. They made a bet that when they have seen the doppelganger of every member of their gang, they will start trying for a baby. By the summer of 2010, Lily thinks she had seen that she thinks is his doppelganger, but it wasn’t. Their friends then knew that this meant she was at last ready for a baby.
Alyson Hannigan plays the role of Lily. Alyson was known for her role as Willow Rosenberg in the TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and for the character Michelle Flaherty in the film American Pie.
