“How I Met Your Mother” Thanksgiving Episode
Lily is astounded in seeing a mental image of her father, Mickey, for the 1st time, thus feeling his presence on Thanksgiving. However, Lily is unaware that Marshall invited Mickey to the dinner, and she is completely flaboghasted when he arrives at the apartment. Lily doesn’t know her father very well, but attempts to restore their relationship that had been lost and/ or nonexistent for years, partly due to the news of learning about the Coffee Shop server who recently died. Since life is sometimes short and very precious, Lily decides to get to know her father better.

This is also the first year that Lily has directed a festive Thanksgiving meal at her own place of residence. “Slapsgiving 2” is a good episode to follow the episode of “Slapsgiving” since it deals with the real meaning of Thanksgiving, which pertains to “giving thanks” and“Showing forgiveness”. Hours earlier, Marshall had left the 22 pound turkey in a taxi cab, but Robin and Ted found it at the Port Authority in the lost and found counter. The tradition of slapping the turkey started after its cooking. Marshall begins with giving his slap to Ted and Robin, who seem to be fighting over which one got the slap. So, Ted gives his turn to Robin who passes hers to Mickey, for the sake of joining the family. Mickey gives his slap to Lily for a wedding present; however Lily is unable to navigate her slap so Marshal did her the honor.
